GAP has provided a grant-in-aid of research to the University of Guelph, Ontario for a two-year research project. This is an important step toward our goal of replacing 100% of chicken breeds that result in poor welfare outcomes by 2024 with breeds meeting specified welfare outcomes within our 5-Step® Rating Program.
In March 2016, Global Animal Partnership (GAP) announced our intention to replace 100% of fast-growing chicken breeds with slower-growing breeds for all levels of our 5- Step® Rating Program by 2024.
Atkins Ranch in Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand, which supplies grass-fed lamb to Whole Foods Market stores across the US and Canada, has been certified to Global Animal Partnership’s (GAP) 5-Step® Animal Welfare Rating program for meat sheep, becoming the first Step 4: Pasture Centered sheep program in the world.
