PRODUCTS

We are proud of what we’ve accomplished since we were established in 2008. Our goal is to continue to impact the lives of animals everyday. Being G.A.P. certified means the animals have:

MORE SPACE

A SAFE & ENRICHED ENVIRONMENT

ACCESS TO PASTURE OR OUTDOORS

(STEPS 3 & ABOVE)

A HEALTHY, VEGETARIAN DIET

(NO ANIMAL BY-PRODUCTS)

NO ADDED HORMONES OR ANTIBIOTICS

LEADING THE WAY

G.A.P. has blazed a trail to new agricultural thinking and a new approach to farm animal welfare. Our leadership in the following areas illustrates our commitment to furthering our mission of more humane animal treatment and a sustainable environment.

MOVING ANIMALS OUT OF FEEDLOTS

From 2012 to 2018 the percentage of certified cattle that are finished on pasture instead of in feedlots has risen from:

47%→78%

THE BETTER CHICKEN PROJECT

Because the majority of animals certified under the G.A.P. program are chickens, G.A.P. formed an initiative with partners to bring thought leadership to the way poultry is raised. Compass USA was the first to commit to sourcing 100% G.A.P. certified chicken by 2024.

THE UNIVERSITY OF GUELPH CHICKEN STUDY

As an extension of the Better Chicken Project, G.A.P. helped fund this first-of-its-kind study assessing different breeds of broiler chickens to determine key factors in assessing the welfare of different genetics.
